Charlene

This painting features a young British White Cross that was on my son's ranch for a while. I think she is fine and I thought Charlene was a good name for her. She has an innocence about her, don't you think? She is set against a dark red background which seems to accentuate her white coat.

Cow Painting of Three Amigos

Cow Painting of Three Amigos

I lived most of my life on a farm-ranch in Oklahoma. That experience gave me a great appreciation for the natural beauty and design of the outdoors and of farm animals. The patterns and natural earth tone colors of steers’ coats became a fancy for me. Set against the colors of pastures and skies in different seasons, the calves’ curious expressions and silent gazes would catch my attention and fascination. I began to take my camera when I went with my husband to feed the cattle. In the painting “Three Amigos” I wanted to capture their gentleness and sense of camaraderie. Occasionally, here in my studio, I get those pictures out, and I paint our calves with “homesick” strokes to get back in touch with my beautiful past.
