Artist's Description
In September I went with some friends to Cloudcroft, New Mexico to paint. We made a trip to the white sands one day and took photographs. What a deserted, dry and unusual place! It is mysteriously beautiful and the plant and animal life that lives in the environment is tremendously interesting. This painting is a small study from the pictures that I took. It would be challenging to capture the real wide-open essence of the terrain from a few reference photos; however, I am pleased that I managed to compose an expression of the quiet, pristine mood of the white sands and the big blue sky under great, white clouds.
